1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using the WealthCanvas platform (“Service”), you (“Advisor”) agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you are accessing the Service on behalf of a corporation or other legal entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility — licensed advisors only
WealthCanvas is available exclusively to individuals holding a valid Canadian financial services license, including but not limited to:
- A provincial life insurance licence (life, or life and accident and sickness)
- CFP, QAFP, CLU, CHS, EPC, CFA, CIM or TEP designation
- Other provincial or national financial services licenses
By registering, you represent that you hold a valid license appropriate to the tools and advice you will present to clients. WealthCanvas reserves the right to verify licensing status and suspend accounts where eligibility requirements are not met.
3. Description of service
WealthCanvas provides a browser-based financial planning presentation platform consisting of:
- Calculation tools for insurance gap analysis, retirement planning, education savings, and related topics
- Guided flows for common client meetings, a shared client fact sheet, and saved meetings
- Client share links and reports printed from the browser
- Canadian tax figures reviewed each year after the federal and provincial budgets
Features available depend on your subscription plan (Free, Pro, or Specialist). Plan details are available on the pricing page.
4. License grant and restrictions
Subject to these Terms and payment of applicable fees, WealthCanvas grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your professional financial advisory activities.
You may not:
- Share your account credentials with other individuals
- Use the Service to provide advice outside the scope of your licensing
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Resell, sublicense, or otherwise transfer access to the Service without written permission from WealthCanvas
- Represent WealthCanvas output as regulated financial advice or a regulated financial plan
5. Subscriptions and billing
Paid plans (Pro and Specialist) are billed monthly or annually in Canadian dollars (CAD) via Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise WealthCanvas to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.
Free trial: your first Pro or Specialist subscription starts with a 14-day free trial. You will not be charged during the trial period. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your payment method will be charged at the applicable plan rate.
Cancellation and refunds: You may cancel at any time from the billing page. Access continues until the end of the period you have paid for and you are not charged again. Payments are not refunded automatically and we do not give pro-rated refunds for partial periods. If you think you were charged in error, email support@wealthcanvas.ca and we will review it. If a refund is issued, access for that payment ends when the refund is processed.
Changing plan: You may change plan or billing period at any time from the billing page. The change takes effect immediately and Stripe prorates it: you are charged the difference for the remainder of the current period, plus applicable tax. Moving to a lower price does not produce a cash refund; the unused value is applied against your next invoices.
Referral programme: If you subscribe using another advisor’s referral code, your first paid invoice is discounted by 50%. The discount applies to the first invoice that is actually charged, not to the $0 invoice issued when a free trial starts. When your first payment succeeds, the advisor whose code you used receives one month of their own plan as account credit, applied against their next invoices. Credit has no cash value and is not redeemable for money. WealthCanvas may change or end the programme at any time; a reward already applied is not withdrawn.
Price changes: WealthCanvas will provide at least 30 days’ notice before increasing subscription prices for existing subscribers.
6. Not regulated financial advice
All calculations, projections, and outputs produced by WealthCanvas are educational illustrations only. They do not constitute:
- Regulated financial planning advice under applicable provincial legislation
- Insurance advice or a recommendation to purchase any specific insurance product
- Investment advice under securities legislation
- Tax advice under the Income Tax Act (Canada)
Every WealthCanvas output includes a compliance disclaimer to this effect. Advisors are responsible for ensuring all advice provided to clients complies with their licensing obligations, applicable provincial regulations, and the requirements of their managing general agent (MGA) or dealer.
WealthCanvas tax data is updated annually and is believed to be accurate but is not warranted for any specific advisory or tax filing purpose.
7. Client data and privacy
Client figures entered in an unsaved meeting stay in the advisor’s browser tab (session storage). They are sent to WealthCanvas servers only when the advisor saves the meeting or creates a share link. Share links keep numeric inputs only; names, contact details and free-text notes are removed. Do not put a client’s full name or other identifiers in meeting labels.
Advisors are solely responsible for ensuring their use of WealthCanvas complies with their obligations under PIPEDA, provincial privacy legislation, and any obligations to their clients regarding data handling.
See our Privacy Policy for full details.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service in any way that:
- Violates any applicable Canadian federal or provincial law or regulation
- Infringes the intellectual property rights of WealthCanvas or any third party
- Involves presenting WealthCanvas output to clients as if it constitutes regulated advice
- Interferes with the security or integrity of the Service
- Involves automated scraping, bulk downloading, or systematic extraction of Service content
9. Intellectual property
The WealthCanvas platform, including all software, calculation methodologies, visual designs, and content, is owned by WealthCanvas and is protected by Canadian and international intellectual property laws.
Share links and other output generated by the Service using your inputs and your branding remain yours. WealthCanvas does not claim ownership over output you create using the Service.
10. Availability and modifications
WealthCanvas aims for high availability but does not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or reasons outside our control. We will provide reasonable advance notice of planned downtime.
WealthCanvas may modify, add, or remove features at any time. Material reductions in functionality available on a paid plan will be accompanied by at least 30 days’ notice and, where the reduction is substantial, an option to cancel before the change takes effect.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, WealthCanvas shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
- Financial loss resulting from reliance on WealthCanvas calculations
- Regulatory sanctions arising from how an advisor uses WealthCanvas output
- Client claims arising from presentations made using the Service
- Loss of data resulting from service interruptions
WealthCanvas’s total cumulative liability for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or liability that cannot be excluded under applicable Canadian law.
12. Indemnification
You are responsible for the advice you give and for how you use the Service with your clients. You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless WealthCanvas and its owners, officers, directors, employees and contractors (the “WealthCanvas parties”) from any claim, demand, complaint, regulatory proceeding, loss, damage, fine, penalty, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) made by a third party, including your clients, your MGA or dealer, an insurer or a regulator, that arises from or relates to:
- any advice, recommendation, product sale or financial decision you make or help a client make, whether or not you used the Service to prepare it;
- the figures, assumptions and client information you enter, and how you present, change or share the Service’s output;
- your client data, including whether you had the client’s consent to enter and share it;
- your breach of these Terms, or of any law, regulation, licence condition or code of conduct that applies to you; or
- anyone using your account.
We will tell you promptly about a claim covered by this section. We may choose our own lawyer and control our defence, with your reasonable cooperation, at your cost. You may not settle a claim in a way that admits fault for, or places an obligation on, any WealthCanvas party without our written consent.
This section does not apply to the extent a court finally decides that a loss was caused by the gross negligence or wilful misconduct of a WealthCanvas party. It continues to apply after your account is closed or these Terms end.
13. Termination
Either party may terminate the service relationship at any time. You may delete your account from Settings in the app. WealthCanvas may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these Terms, non-payment, or fraudulent use, with or without prior notice depending on the severity of the breach.
Upon termination, your licence to use the Service ends immediately. A deleted account can be restored for 30 days; after that its personal data is removed, subject to legal retention obligations (for example billing records).
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any dispute arising from these Terms shall first be addressed by good-faith negotiation. If not resolved within 30 days, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration in Vancouver, British Columbia under the Arbitration Act (British Columbia), except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.
15. Changes to these terms
WealthCanvas may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email and by a notice in the WealthCanvas dashboard at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of the updated Terms constitutes acceptance.
